I am looking for a sleeve for my G55 too as I would like some extra protect besides the padding in the laptop bag. I wonder if there is any sleeve that is water proof?
What kind of upgrade are you planning to do? Just let you know only things easily upgradeable are one hard drive and two of memory slots, but that's enough for me since I am not a really hardcore gamer.
Fan is not really easily accessible, you have to at least take of the entire back cover, which I haven't tried to do yet. For easily accessible fan, I think you would prefer G75, which even has exchangeable fan filters. But it looks like you have ordered your G55 already.
I have tried to disassemble it for fun. I took off the easily accessible cover, took out the optical drive and hard drive, unscrewed like 20 screws, flipped it over, too off the cover on the hinge, unscrewed some more and I still wasn't able to take off the back cover. I didn't really force it since it is brand new. That's at least what you have to do to access the fan.
