Hi guys!
I have Asus G750 JW and I'm going to buy a second monitor BenQ XL2411T
http://benq.co.uk/product/monitor/xl2411t/
My question is, Can I have 120hz in that monitor using HDMI cable?
The other connection in the laptop is mini Display Port, but this monitor doesn't have it.
Thanks!
You need Display port for 120hz, or Dual-link DVI - you can get a DisplayPort to Dual-link DVI converter for about $100+ but I would suggest finding a similar monitor with DisplayPort 1.2+ so you can do without the huge converter dongle.
🙂The mini-display port to full size display port cables are hard to find in stores right now, I ordered mine online, and the cable worked fine with an Asus PB278Q for 2560x1440. I didn't try 120hz, but I know 120hz works on DP and not HDMI as available today.
Here are the cables/adapter I got, you don't need both, I just wanted to make sure I had something that worked so I got the mini DP to full DP adapter to use with the monitor provided DP Full to Full cable in case the mini DP to Full DP cable didn't work - it did, and I haven't even tried the adapter yet:
