While there are many different places online or in-store that you could buy a hard drive, my recommendation for friends has always been Newegg.com, since they usually have a lot of great deals 😄 My suggestion for the G74 is to buy an SSD (64gb or 128GB, maybe higher depending on what you need) or one of the Hybrid Drives, and then use the Hard drive the laptop came with as the secondary drive
Sager NP9370
256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD + 750GB 7200RPM Secondary HDD
nVidia GeForce GTX 680M 4GB VRAM
Intel Core i7-3630QM 2.40GHz
16GB RAM
Mouse: MadCatz R.A.T. 7
Keyboard: Razer Lycosa Mirror
Additional Monitors: 24" 1080p Insignia LED/LCD TV and 21" Acer LCD Monitor
Windows 7 Ultimate

Can you tell me if you have booted OS from SSD and if so how did you get like Win7 on the SSD? Did you clone?

Definitely go with the Hybrid Drive. They are nearly as fast as an SSD, and cost a lot less. Windows boot times are cut almost in half. I would get the 750GB variant from newegg.com if I were you. Like @zsld0423 said, they have a lot of great deals. Whatever drive you get, go into the BIOS and change the boot order to attempt to boot first off the new HDD, so that your newer--and faster drive can be the boot system.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

Clone can cause some registry problems if you aren't careful. I'd suggest fresh installing and google up some guides to tell you how to configure user accounts, temp files, page files, etc.
