I'm thinking in buy this HDD for my G74SX-3DE. Does anybody have a Momentus XT, I saw a vídeo and it seems fast. Does it fit on my notebook?
Thx a lot.

Hi

I bought my notebook with 2x 500GB Seagate Momentus XT 7200RPM

So that should fit just well in your notebook 🙂

Thank you. Probably I'll replace my 2 momentus 750GB by 2 momentus xt 750gb. Hopefully it'll be faster! =]

The answer is yes. I have one of the older hybrids, and it makes a big difference in boot up. Also, the older hybrids had (and the new ones should have) 32 MB of cache. This, along with the 7200 RPM spindle speed helps a great deal on the boot up. If you can set the two drives up in RAID, that would be incredibly fast. Also, I have heard that Seagate is in the process of creating a firmware for the newer (hopefully the older as well) hybrids that will enable a write cache. That would make the hybrids almost as fast as an SSD, and make them hands-down the fastest HDD's on the market today.

From some of the reviews I've read, do they drain the battery faster? I'm sure there is some battery impact from simply going from 5400rpm to 7200rpm...
