Hi Everyone, another question for the people who put the G75VX together and I ask for very practical knowledge passing reasons as not everyone knows about the following:
Does the G75VX have one SATA controller with two connectors for the HDD's or two SATA controllers with one connector per controller for each HDD? Now some people will be thinking who cares - it go's but here in lays something that some people don't know and I have tested this for myself and proved what a difference it makes.
In the following sentences Cx refers to Controller X and Dx refers to Drive X,x is of course a number.
In the situation where you have for example two hard drives on one controller with two connections I.E C1.D1,D2 your transfer rates are being limited by the internal bandwidth of the SATA controller chip whereas if you have two controllers I.E C1.D1,C2.D2 with one connection each controller and one drive per connection it does not drown the controllers bandwidth.
If you raid with two controllers and one hard drive per controller your speed will vastly improve, this is why I am asking.
If it is two controllers I will grab two identical drives and raid my setup preserving the original drives. - If it's not there's no point in doing it because there's no advantage.
From what I can see with the devices appearing to be on Bus 0 and Bus 1 respectively I am assuming that there are two controllers but the connections could just be enumerated could you confirm what the case is please?
I truly believe that there are people on this planet who should voluntarily remove them selves from the gene pool.
