Rog g752 model,s, game play and customizing

Hi all,
I've posted that I'll be purchasing the G752 with the 980 card and 16 DDR4 when they come out

I like to game but I/m not fanatical about it (no insult to those who are). I'm comparing the specs of the 980 card to the 970 card and according to notebook check the 970 card is capable of some amazing frame rates even at high settings.
I also checked out you-tube videos of gamer's who have the 970 card and I thought they ran just fine.

I play campaign mode games. Not into multiplayer or on line games so do I need the 980 card at a $400.00 higher cost?
I don't edit videos or audio files. The design program I do use works on my Lenovo laptop whos' sole operating system is a squirrel in a rotating cage (intel inside?)

Toronto699 mentioned he was looking into the G752 with the 970 card. Thank you sir..that started my search for a card that in all probability will serve my needs. In 2 or 3 years when more demanding games come out I'll worry about that then.

The portable aspect of the notebook for me is taking it into the kitchen then the living room and ever so often. into my home office. I'll never be taking it outside to a remote location so I'm not worried about the gum (thermal compound) that comes standard.
Really, isn't this just a gimmick to add more costs to an otherwise good build from the manufacturer? And having someone open and pull apart a brand new laptop just to add "premium" goo is in my opinion asking for trouble. I trust the manufacturer to use quality goo.

Hard core gamer question...How much of a difference does it make if someone your playing with (against) has a higher graphics card then you.
Are we talking about incredibly small differences in response time? Response times so inconsequential that it's more bragging rights to have a higher card then it is in game play?

Please don't. 😄

The difference in performance is not going to be so much in response time from the game itself but uh...rather your response time, if that makes sense? If you're both playing at 60fps then, obviously, there won't be any discernable difference.

If you're playing a multiplayer FPS or something at 25fps...you're in for a bad time. There are many multiplayer games that are not as reliant on graphics performance. Then again, many single player games will provide a bad experience at low frames, too...

Either way, G-SYNC helps. And honestly, if I was going for a gaming laptop (as I was with the G751JY), I would get the the top graphics solution, even if it means waiting a bit for prices to settle. $400 is not worth it. $200 might be.

Edwierd....yeah i did some more checking into it...the difference is only 200$ because it doesn't include a sd drive which I would have installed anyway so for 200 more the 980 card makes more sense

thank you for your reply

my philosophy is buy what u can afford. if one is second guessing that they bought a lower end card , then go for the for the higher end card. Just be happy with your decision .

That's hard to do when what you can afford changes every month and the amount of money you have to spend is no less a variable imo.
Rather, buy what you think you'll need without overspending TOO much - this depends on how much of a geek you are about tech.

If I'm gonna buy what I can afford, I'm not gonna do it on a non cost effective thing like a gaming laptop, which many people keep poking at me as being an oxymoron. Thankfully, with smaller lithographies and better efficiencies, we'll have passive cooled gaming notebooks one day. 🙂

Some people have been better off getting something like a Chromebook or tablet for moving around and using the rest of the cash for a decent desktop gaming rig, which is upgradable in the future, unlike these laptops.

G752 has a set price , retailers my offer less , the higher end technology will cost u more, In My Case , the high end G752 in Canada will be 4000 to 5000 Canadian Dollars. MY Employer Will Pay For What Ever I Decide. If one buys on credit at say 11% to 28% interest , that really adds up.
over 2 or 3 years to pay it off, If I cannot Pay Cash I cannot afford it. I Always Pay by Cash. Even New Cars. My Take me awhile to save in the end its worth every penny
