ROG G750JZ connected to ROG SWIFT PG278Q

I use a DP-to-miniDP adapter on the input of the laptop. Windows 8.1

1. I get the full resolution, but the refresh rate won't go beyond 120 Hz. Is there any way to get the 144 Hz?
Also the TURBO button on the side of the screen doesn't work, it only displays whatever frequency I've set in WIndows 8.1, doesn't change it.

2. How do I check if G-sync is even running? In Nvidia control panel, I can only find 3D Settings.

I suspect it might be this forced Optimus that messes with both these issues (refresh rate and g-sync). Has anyone succeeded in combining these two products?

Luckily I still have a few days to consider returning both. Or if it's the Optimus maybe an Alienware instead of the G750 is the way to go. Any help is appreciated

I hope they add it back in. My desktop machine is a Triple SLI GTX780ti with 3 1080p 120hz Asus screens. Its gravy. I am so addicted to high HZ screens for FPS gaming its not funny. I hope the G751 IPS screen doesn't have bad input lag. I am also hoping to be able to overclock the screen. If we could use an external G-Sync monitor, I'd buy the Asus G-Sync screen to pair with this laptop.

Ozy311, it doesn't look good, the 970m/980m have also been removed, and removed from the individual specifications pages:

970m
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gtx-970m

980m
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gtx-980m

Asking Asus and Nvidia seems like the next best step - to see if this is temporary as the current and near future drivers aren't supporting the G-sync function, but they are still working toward support for the 880m/970m/980m.

I wish I had taken snippets - images of those data pages before - as I recall there being more little tiles than I see now - so perhaps other functionality was removed from the specifications.

Some of the specifications at the time did say to be enabled in a later driver release. Maybe it was causing too much confusion including the future support of technology in those pages and the G-sync list - people weren't reading the details and were taking it as already available.

I am hopeful that with the G751 discarding Optimus and connecting directly to the 970m/980 it would open up all the Nvidia functionality lost behind the Intel iGPU in the JM/JS/JZ.

Time will tell 🙂

I apologize for not bringing updates, I've been somewhat drowned in work lately and haven't had time to follow this up.

I am currently in dialogue with ASUS support about this. They are polite and helpful but currently just point to the current version of the product sites that state that the two products are not compatible. I still have hope that once we have established the previous compatibility listing and agree on that, that we might get somewhere. I will update this thread with the resolution.

I have found no resolution. Trying your advice now, to ask ASUS support

So i guess there is no hope for my Asus G750js to enjoy a 144hz external monitor? i've been reaching online for like the past 3hours.

1) Bought my AOC G2460PQU today
2) Bought a Mini Displayport to Displayport cable ( for the 144hz,since hdmi cant output anything more than a 60hz)
3) I can't set my external display as my primary thanks to optimus.
4) Under Nvidia control panel, under physx, i cant set my external monitor to GTX870m. It clear shows that my displayport is linked to the intel hd graphics.
5) i just need to run at 144hz
I hope i can find a solution soon. else is just feels like my $300 bucks thrown into the ocean.

apparently, this guy said it worked for him ?
