ROG G750JX - error 0x80070079: The semaphore timeout period has expired

Hi everyone !

I have some issues with a portable drive: seagate backup plus 2To. I am on Windows 8.1.

Directly for the first transfer computer to drive, I had the following message: "error 0x80070079: The semaphore timeout period has expired'
Apparently, it is a common error, but I don't find any woking solution. Then I shipped back my drive under warranty to seagate,
and received a new one (the same model). Except that the new one produce exactly the same error :(.

So before use my warranty a second time a try the harddrive on another laptop asus with Windows 7 instead of Windows 8. The harddrive bug on both laptop.
But after a disk checking and repair by windows 7, the disk was working fine. But if I plug in my G750 with Windows 8.1, It bug again.
Plug in one time in my compluter => bug on the windows 7 computer...

And I am unable to repair with Windows 8.1 cause after one error message, I am unable to access to the drive.

Remark: I have 6 Seagate expansion hardrive at my home, no problem ! It's strange that I have the same problem two times with the same seagate models.

Thank you for your help.

P.S: Sorry for the grammary,...English isn't my mother tongue.

What file system do you have on your seagate drive? Try to format it in to ntfs using your g750 laptop also check chipset drivers it sometimes happens when your chipset drivers are not installed. Also I got some bsods when I was trying to flash firmware on old nokia cell phone from my g750jh also got same bsods on Lenovo laptop but after research I find out that there is because cell phone was connected to usb 3.0 ports on both laptops and after putting it to usb 2.0 it flashed good on Lenovo. This usb 3.0 is not the best communication port solution and I would like to have at least 1 usb 2.0 port on my g750 to get working with old devices like cell phones etc.
P.S I don't like total usb 3.0 only one device with usb 3.0 port I'm using is hdd but it's 5400rpm so it's no big difference in speed in what port it's plugged in.

Thank you for your answer 😉
It was already in NTFS, the chipset drivers are installed and updated.
The fact that
1) the hardrive is working on a old asus laptop with USB 2
2) When I plug in one time on my G750, the bug are on all computer where I plug in after.
It maybe show like you said that the problem comes from the usb 3.0 ports but I don't have some USB 2.0 ports on my laptop.

I know that there is no USB 2.0 port on G750 series! If hard drive works everywhere else but is not working with g750 by the cable try to connect it with micro usb cable as it's a part of usb 3.0 port on yours HDD so it will be forced to run as usb 2.0 device. The speed will be lower but on 5400rpm it's not a big difference.
