rog g74 sx and w10 1903 feedback ?

Hi there! well, it almost time for me to test the limits of this old Rog. Anyone with a G74sx did the 1903 w10 upgrade? For now, I am on 1809, everything is fine for now... So, I'm waiting your comments!!! For now I defered the upgrade, I have w10 pro!

Cool!!! so I might expect a smooth upgrade! I heard about incompatibility about the Intel sandy bridge and 1903 version.. I am not in a hurry to upgrade, but I'm curious if someone with a 674 sx already upgraded!

Hi there! A new w10 version will be released very soon. Maybe it's time for me to upgrade. Not sure about what version. I am still with the 1809 version. Everything is good so far. Any g74 sx owner already upgraded to 1909??? I have to choose, 1903 or 1909.

Any issue on both?

Why don't you just Use Macrium Reflect and create a disk/SSD image. Then if the upgrade dosen't work out you can just restore the current image a be right back where you are now?

Download the latest version from Media Creation Tool
Have all the drivers you are currently running ready to reinstall once you get into windows. You might even try the Upgrade me now you shouldn't lose anything since the Core of 1909 is the same as 1903

really? please, if you can, tell me if any pieces were replaced? hdd or ssd excepted. I have all original material, except the battery of course. Still use the original hdd, still perfect according to crystaldiskinfo. I use that pc for browsing mainly, fb games, nothing heavy. 1809 version is updated until may 2010, but If I want to try 1903 via windows update, it's now. I am to lazy to create a bootable iso. I am too lazy as well to use Macrium. I have nothing on that computer, it's for testing and see how far that old beast can go with windows 10 *lol* I use right now apple products. Please, don't throw me anything! I'm not a gamer anymore. But I can't throw away a perfectly working computer! And it's too old, nobody would buy it! 😉

So I struggle with, skip 1903 and take 1909 directly, or take 1903 for the next year or so.


MY GOD. Apparently, there are g74 sx to sell for 500$ on the web *kijiji, I'm from Canada* LOL. As I put some $$$ to upgrade a bit, more memory, new battery, I will keep it!

I have worked on my neighbor's ASUS G74SX for the last several years. Except for replacement of the original hard drives, everything is original.

This G74SX started with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and all the different versions of Windows 10. Automatic updates are enabled.
