Replace a key on the keyboard?

My Q key broke (one of the little clear clips on the underside of the key broke, and it now no longer grips the plastic clip beneath). I've looked at http://www.laptop-keys.com/ and http://www.replacementlaptopkeys.com/, but neither list the G750.

It appears that maybe the G75 is the same as the G750 keys, but not sure how to be sure.

DOes anyone know if the keys on this laptop are compatable with any previous versions of the laptop? This is an important key for me, nice when I game, instead of using WASD I use WQSE.

If you don't use the number pad on the right side, or don't use the 'right click keyboard button' the one two keys to the right of the space bar, you can pull it off my wedging it up from the top, pull out the clip with tweezers and then place it in the Q key slot as a temporary fix until you find a replacement clip.

Please place the broken pieces in a ziplock bag and keep somewhere safe just in case.

That's brilliant! Such a simple quickfix, why didn't I think of that. I also have an Asus G73 from a few years ago, and I ma going to see if I can swap out the Q from that. I'a gonna shut het down now, and carefully remove the right click key.

LOL, This may be my last Asus laptop. The right click key on the keyboard DOES NOT match the Q key. There is the hinge parts on the key at the top, and two little clips towards the bottom of the key. The clip part is a millimeter or two lower on the right click key than on the Q key. What kind of nonsense is that? Can't believe that I may have to RMA this thing for a key.

So I did a chat with an ASUS rep, who told me that I have to send in either the whole laptop, or just the keyboard.

Can I have a opinion. How difficult is it to remove disassemble the laptop to remove the keyboard? I really don't want to send the whole thing in or I can use it for who knows how long.

Another option would to bring it back to best buy and make them disassemble it. Thoughts?

Most laptops require you to replace the entire keyboard if you damage a key. Very often the retainer clip breaks, and suppliers seldom stock replacement keys. So RMA is (sadly) not entirely an absurd thing for such a small repair; it's the nature of the design unfortunately.

You have to remove quite a few screws of various sizes on the bottom case. It's not as simple as some of the competition out there, so I really don't recommend you go for it. Chances are a Geek Squad person will need to send it to Asus for a replacement keyboard; it's probably better you cut them out and keep it between you and Asus unless you have some sort of protection plan with Best Buy.

Hmm, try another key, maybe one from the numeric pad. I tried testing the other myself, it worked fine.

Did you try to put the key bracket in first, then place the tile ontop, and press down on it to 'snap' it into place?

Thanks Darn, ( can I call you Darn?). I did end up pulling off the the right click key and the retainer clip as well. it works, but isn't perfect, is seems that the key sits a bit off center, and makes a distinct click or scrape sound between the lower part of the key against the lower part of the computer. But good enough for now. I use the keypad quite a bit, so the right click is the only key I can live without.

Hi.
I'm new here. Checked few topics, didn't find answer to my question.
I have ASUS G750JM, and I lost two keys (4, 7).
Is there any new key sets for this model or maybe specific keys to buy?
