RAID 0 on G74SX.

Hi, How can I set my two 500gb 7200rpm Seagate hard drives to RAID 0, Does Intel RST program have an option for that? If not what is the best software RAID program? Thanks.

Here is a guide to Intel's Rapid Storage Technology (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=9&sqi=2&ved=0CI8BEBYwCA&url=http%...), including how to use it to set up a software RAID array. I'm not a big fan of software RAID, so maybe other folks could weigh in on what they think is best.

I have installed Intel rapid storage but no option to create RAID array..not supported maybe?:(

software RAID 0 vs Hardware RAID 0.......... anyone knows how they compare in performance ?......... interested to see how the software RAID 0 works.....good luck

My biggest beef with software RAID is reliability/stability. I've seen how installation of drivers in Windows 7 can affect the stability of other drivers. I don't want to do a simple update of my WLAN driver and find my whole system is borked...

Another thing to consider is your laptop processor is handling the RAID operations and there will be times when you are not just idling along, but running on the bleeding edge. Makes it a lot easier for problems to occur.

Good point ds: hadn't thought of that. Makes software RAID seem like a crippled form of RAID when you're trading CPU clocks for disk spins. And the reliability thing on the whole OS would make me nervous enough never to try it. That said, though it is too bad the HM65 chipset can't do this? Or what is the H/W that controls RAID?

I'm far from being knowledgeable on RAID hardware. About all I know is a dedicated RAID controller is required. I do know what I don't want - and that is software RAID.

The RAID array must be created PRIOR to installing the OS. Could that be the problem?
