Problem in booting G75VX

parth
Level 7
Hi guys, I've recently started having a problem with my G75vx. When I power it on as soon as the POST ends the screen flickers and goes black for about 3-5 minutes.During this time my laptop doesn't respond to any key hits. After about five minutes I get the windows welcome screen and everything runs fine.
Any ideas on what might be wrong?

You could try this:

Use CHKDISK to check the disk surface for physical errors or bad sectors and it can even fix unreadable data.

Open CMD ----> Write chkdsk /r ---> Press Y (Enter)--->restart PC this wil take a while.

It sounds like it's taking a while for your video driver to load. I would try reinstalling a recent NVIDIA version with a 'clean' install (choose "Custom Install", then check the "Clean Install" checkbox). This will remove your current video driver (which I suspect has remnants from previous version(s) causing the problem. You may also wish to disable your Antivirus software for the NVIDEA clean installation.

Tried both these things. Problem persists I'm afraid.

Check event viewer and see if there are any notices there.

And you could try this:

Start>Run>msconfig>Normal Startup (or try dionostic)

And try to look for services that are stopped while start up.

you can enable boot.log.

Start>Run>msconfig>boot>enable boot log.
Restart and go to C:\windows\ntbtlog.txt

Check for any drivers which were unable to load.

I agree with @TokoDude and would research ways to resolve slow Windows boot times by following recommendations in some of these articles: http://www.google.com/search?ei=WW-JUbvENpTbqQGn5oDwCA&q=troubleshooting+slow+windows+8+boot+time&oq....

Perhaps there is another driver or process causing the delay prior to loading the NVIDIA driver.

Since you report it is a recent problem, you could also try using Windows System Restore to restore your system to an earlier time before this startup problem first occurred.
