Price/Release date of the newly announced ROG Chimera?

Really want to see a release date and price for this laptop. Excited for the announcement and may stick with Asus as long as the price is in line with the G701. Besides the sightly different chassis and display, the internal hardware is very similar. If they can keep this around $3k, I may go for it instead of trying the Acer Predator line.
(ROG has simply become too expensive compared to the competition with same specs... 😞 )

Doubt that. With 144Hz screen it's more likely to be around $4k price tag.

Eh, they screwed it too..

They didn't give it a wedge design, most likely everyone's going to break their wrist on it..

Bah. I use a mechanical keyboard for the more important tasks (gaming). Only use it without a keyboard for work. The G752 is already pretty high. I dont think it will be that much taller.

I really hope not. 144Hz isnt worth $1k difference. It also brings back the extra 2.5inch bay which I would really like to keep as it is in the G752. The GX800 is ridiculous because they dropped the 2.5inch drive bay. For a rig with SLI 1080's, its main use, you would think would be gaming. NVMe storage just for gaming would be extremely costly. Then again at $6k, the laptop is too expensive for most to begin with.

The display also being 1080p in the Chimera, I dont think the cost would be that significant of a difference compared to a 75Hz 1080p GSYNC display. The 4k option supposedly also available may be a large amount more. I guess we'll see.

Well, as far as I know all modern monitor designs with such high refresh rates are based on FPGAs due to their minor quantities. And thats why they cost so much compared to regular monitors with IC wafer logic. But yeah, I will agree that 144Hz isnt worth +$1000.

It just says coming soon on the website. 😕

Wish they would just post a damn month at least. Worst thing about it is I go through my work for it and they use CDW. Normally CDW is slow to the punch and gets it a little bit AFTER everybody else. But they also normally drop ship directly from Asus so that's a plus. At least the last 2 I picked up were.
