Presales Questions about G752VY

Hello, forum ! new user here.
I'm in the market for buying a new laptop and i stumbled upon this wonderful model :

G752VY-GC179T

1) How can i be sure if it has Optimus or not?
I don't want to spend alot just to be bottlenecked by this.
I'll always game with a power plug in, so battery life is of no importance to me.
I searched the full model name on the asus website from my country, but had 0 results.
Instead, i found only the generic presentation site with what specs are available.
The exact same model (G752VY-GC179T) shows it has Optimus on
this site : http://www.emag.ro/laptop-asus-rog-cu-procesor-intelr-coretm-i7-6700hq-2-60ghz-17-3-full-hd-24gb-1tb...
but NOT on
this site : http://www.pcgarage.ro/notebook-laptop/asus/gaming-173-rog-g752vy-fhd-ips-procesor-intel-core-i7-670...

2) The Romanian website asus.com/ro/whatever doesn't specify a G-sync support for this model, HOWEVER all the review sites mention this.
Can this be region-specific? Or should i be guaranteed G-Sync on it, regardless of region ?
Or where should i be redirected to ask this ? I couldn't find an e-mail to ask at.

3) Can the on-board gpu be disabled in bios and force the laptop to always run the 980m ?
Does the stock bios allow for this to happpen or do i have to be veeery careful doing an bios update as well?
I usually apply the Keep-it-simple principle and not upgrade a bios unless i'm forced to.

4) If i connect an external monitor (a later buy), will the FHD and gsync be forced to the new monitor?
Can i run 1440p on external and keep 1080p on laptop and have them linked ?
(i.e. move mouse from one monitor straigh to the external one) It would help tremendously with work.

5) IF IT HAS OPTIMUS
Which gpu is the mini-DP port linked to? Maybe i could always use an external monitor for the discrete/dedicated GPU.
According to http://dchambers.github.io/articles/driving-multiple-monitors-on-an-optimus-laptop/
Can the switch between integrated and dedicated GPU be done hardware or software-wise?

6) Can i run virtual machines (Android Studio, vmware etc) if i upgrade to 10 pro later?
Still undecided between 10 Edu (my uni has Microsoft MSP partnership) and Pro, considering future updates.

7) Will the 8 GB of ram on gtx980m be fully used? I mean, the 256bit bus..I'm assuming it's not SLI, otherwise the model would specify it.
Or is it shared memory between intel and nvidia and the display always receives from the integrated but asks the nvidia to do the hard work ?
I've read something about muxless cards and i'm not sure.

Thanks for your help and patience.

All G752 Has No Optimus, All G752 Has G-Sync , No SLI. Regardless of Country or Model # but the specs for Amount of Ram or what Nvidia Graphic Card or wireless , network card may vary depending on country or region or if it is specifically made for a certain Reseller
here are the specs for north America , The Intel Graphic Card is Disabled On A G752 , u will not be able to install Intel Graphic Drivers , Only Nvidia Drivers

I was also bugged by the same question, but got a reply from Asus (and numerous users) that the ROG series DOES NOT use Optimus technology.

The model I am looking at (G752VY-GC263T) was also described to have Optimus, but it is wrong. Even users which bought the G752VY with 4GB/8GB GPU version reported there is NO Optimus.

All new models SHOULD have G-Sync.

No need 'cause NVIDIA GPU is the only one handling the video/display/etc.

I believe it works as with any other dual-setup. Especially for normal / business / everyday use.

I highly doubt thet you will use all 8GB unless you connect to a 4K display (people, please correct me if I am wrong on this one).

Thanks for the fast replies !

It's me again. Forgot which email i used on my other acc Tornado, to attach the laptop to that account..so i made this one to register it to.
Finally got this beast of a machine !
So far, so good about it.

I only wish the wi-fi card could also support hostednetworks (make hotspot from my lan internet). Yes, i have the latest drivers.

Forgot to ask : can i make the 1st boottime a bit faster without flashing the next version bios ? OS is installed on SSD.

You may be able to get one of these to work. Not sure if they will work in windows 10, but I have used Virtual Router Manager in Windows 8.1 and it worked great.

http://www.howtogeek.com/214080/how-to-turn-your-windows-pc-into-a-wi-fi-hotspot/
(ROG has simply become too expensive compared to the competition with same specs... 😞 )
MSI GE75 Raider 10SGS - i7 10750H - RTX 2080 Super - 32GB Ram - 1TB WD NVMe - 2TB 960 EVO - 300Hz 17inch Display
RETIRED: ALIENWARE R17 R5 - i7 8750H - GTX 1070 @ 1.9Ghz - 16GB DDR4 - NVMe 970 EVO 1TB - SSD 960 EVO 1TB
SOLD: ASUS G703VI-XH74K, RETIRED: ASUS G752VY-DH72, RETIRED: ASUS G750JH DB71 , RETIRED:ASUS G74Sx DH72

Won't work with that either, they are all just interfaces over the same functionality..which is not provided for my current wi-fi card.
I'll get a router and that's it.

Tornado,

Yes, you can use VMWare on the G752. I have upgraded to Windows 10 Pro and VMWare Workstation runs fine with it. Just make sure that virtualization is set to enabled in BIOS. Mine was by default on the G752.
