Preinstalled windows 8 from HDD to SSD?

I want to install my preinstalled windows 8 which came with my 1tb 5400 rpm hdd that came with my G75VX that I bought at Best Buy onto a Samsung 840 250gb.

How do I go about it?

I heard of that my product key is embedded in the bios and would installing another os cause any conflict if other os do not share the same product key?

I checked previous forums on similar topic but I don't clearly seem to get it to work such as migrating/cloning and stuff.

What I want is to install the presinstalled windows 8 onto my ssd.

Install the latest version of Samsung Data Migration. Attach the 840 to a usb adapter and run the Data Migration program (takes about half an hour). Swap the SSD with your original boot drive, boot the machine, and run Samsung SSD MAGICIAN. The latest versions of both programs can be downloaded from Samsung's website.

I did this to my G75VX last week with a Crucial M4 256 ssd. First, I went into bios and disabled Fastboot and Secure Boot (bios v203). Then I installed ssd in spare bay, and used Macrium Reflex free version to clone, it worked perfectly. Switched out the HD with the ssd, and it booted up fine. Note that when I first put ssd in computer, windows would not see it, I had to go into bios and go to boot order for the bios to see it, and then save and exit. Don't really know if that was required, but that's what I did to see the uninitialized ssd before cloning.

when you migrated your hdd to ssd, did you lose some space from your ssd? I noticed when I tried it, my 250gb ssd dropped all the way to 90gb? I don't want that and how do I fix that?

Use Mini Tool partition wizard Home, you probably have a large part of your SSD that is not formatted still unused space?

By any chance, can you provide step by step on how to clone the hdd where the original windows 8 os is to the ssd? Every time I try it, I receive only 90gb on ssd where it should be 230 something (250gb) total. Am I doing something wrong? Also, I don't have the ssd kit. Samsung Magician requires Norton ghost. So if I am using M. Reflect, why do I need Norton Ghost?

Here are a few YouTube videos that will help you with Macrium Reflect. I would just make an image of the HDD (save it to an external drive) and then just restore the image to the SDD .

Samsung Magician, and more importantly, Samsung Data Migration, do not require Norton Ghost. They are all you need to clone and optimize your Samsung SSD.

Better to do a clean windows 8 install VS bloated asus install. Just my opinion and takes 13-14 minutes.

well good thing, the g75vx I bought at Best Buy didn't come with so many bloat ware and it boot up in 10 secs even on a 5400 rpm hdd. I wonder how fast it would boot up if it were an ssd. So what you said, doesn't worry me.
