Preinstalled windows 8 from HDD to SSD?

I want to install my preinstalled windows 8 which came with my 1tb 5400 rpm hdd that came with my G75VX that I bought at Best Buy onto a Samsung 840 250gb.

How do I go about it?

I heard of that my product key is embedded in the bios and would installing another os cause any conflict if other os do not share the same product key?

I checked previous forums on similar topic but I don't clearly seem to get it to work such as migrating/cloning and stuff.

What I want is to install the presinstalled windows 8 onto my ssd.

That boot time is too fast for a hard drive? you probably using fast boot which is only waking up from sleep or I guess Win 8 calls it Hybrid shut down. An SSD won't be much faster than that. Mine is about 25 seconds for a full boot from complete shutdown This includes a few gadgets and other software loading . Win 8 won't do a complete shutdown with out you telling it too.

I heard that if you just do a clone, you won't get a proper setup of TRIM on the SSD ?

Actually, Samsung's software takes care of that. If your drive doesn't come with SSD optimization tools, it is extremely easy to turn on TRIM and turn off all of the unnecessary processes.
Here's a guide. http://thessdreview.com/ssd-guides/optimization-guides/the-ssd-optimization-guide-2/

People should try and reply with quote so others know who's talking to who.

Use this cloning software, just follow the step by step.
You can delete the "bloatware" after clone.
No worries with "trim" on the SSD, or misalignment.

  • Upgrade your hard disk or try new operating systems in the safe knowledge that everything is securely saved in an easily recovered backup file.
