hold shift + hold symbol key, let go of shift while holding symbol key, symbol is shown

anyone have any ideas ? no programs or anything has been installed from when it was working perfectly to this.

🙂Using either the built in keyboard or an external wireless keyboard, I hold the right shift key, and as soon as I press the > key I get a >
Do you have any other keyboard drivers loaded? Do you have shift lock on? Caps lock? Does rebooting fix it? Logging in as a different user? Does it happen in the BIOS too?
When you hold the shift key, press the > key, and release the > key while still holding the shift key down, what happens?
