Hello all,

Asus seems undecided on whether they're going to allow official G-SYNC support on the existing G751's purchased before now (? - I don't know the official date, they just said this month I believe).

Please "sign" this petition by posting... even if you don't think you'll need the feature, you'll want it someday, trust me.

ASUS: Even if there are licensing fees involved or whatever, if that is indeed the reason you wouldn't offer it to existing owners.. then at least let us pay the fee for it! Something... anything!

The amount of brand-loyalty to be gained from giving this feature to existing owners would build more goodwill than you're imagining. Market it! Tell the world that you were the first to give this major support release to existing owners!

Thanks!

Okay I just bought in this week G751Jt I was very happy beacuse it's my first notebook but when I get here I'm kind of dissapointed that some 751 got g-sync some not , If I known eariler then maybe I could wait with buying it but even though I like it 🙂

I don't know about this "G-sync technology " but my question it's software or hardware ?
does 970m support it?
also if someone could help me with making this g751 the best as possible would be nice 🙂

Well on notebooks its "software based" as it only needs the right components (970m or 980m, and a compatible LCD), as opposed to desktop monitors that need a special G-Sync chip.
If you bought your G751 recently, it should have a "g-sync sticker" on the front chassis, and you should be able to see the g-sync option in nvidia control panel. If you don't have it, you bought a pre-july 2015 model, without g-sync.
Yes, 970m is supported.

Damn I don't have g-sync sticker well I would not ask if have g sync but well that's shame so much money and I thought that's newest...

That's the issue your laptop is exactly the same as the newers with the "sticker".

All the talk is because g-sync is software based on laptops and ASUS doesn't provide the same software support to all g751s...

Sorry for you i bought mine like yours with a 970m installed the leaked g-sync driver but it's not the same as official support..

Don't install the beta g-sync because you will be even more disapointed that you can have it the right way

At least MSI and other gsync notebook manufactures were nice enough to rename their gsync models with a G or G-Synce in the name and list them seperatly on their websites. Were as ASUS continues to call their notebooks "ROG G751JT/JY" with the tagline "now feature NVIDIA® G-SYNC™ display technology"

Look at Geforces own website http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/g-sync-gets-even-better and scroll down to the image of the 4 notebooks with gsync. All of them but ASUS have a g or g-sync in the name.

I also understand from what I've read on here when asus first released the bios update 207 they errored by listing that it added g-sync support. As least on the canadaian asus site the bios now specifically mentions that gsync support is only for the gsync sku's.

Asus could have done a better job of marketing and distiguishing the new gsync models from the old and not making it look like all G751 were going to get g-sync. I dont think Asus did this intentionaly, it was just poor communication and marketing.

Also on that link i provided "Available in the near future, many of the new gaming notebooks feature the world’s first 75Hz mobile gaming displays. And just like on G-SYNC desktop monitors, each G-SYNC display has been hand-selected by NVIDIA after passing stringent flicker, color and responsiveness tests."

That makes it seam that we can't get g-sync on our old laptops unless nvidia actually certifies them. So its up to nvidia to do so or asus to pressure nvidia to do so but we all know thats not going to happen since asus wants to make money by selling the new more expensive g-sync model. Even if the display and gpu are identical.

Well I'm curious how Asus Poland will see this problem I send a message about this situation but if Main asus does't support any advice/information then it's a big shame how Asus see customers.

I think we could do more like write to official facebook page of asus everywhere where we can and also inform tech portals about what's going on beacuse it's kind of unacceptable...

we tried that
we even spammed twitch channel when they were live presenting "new" g-sync enabled g751 model

there is a thread on nvidia forums, nvidia is sending ppl to oems, oems are sending to nvidia....
that's how nvidia does "business" as it is their licensing shhhhenanigans

PS: pozdrowienia z Polski xD

Can't we have someone create fake stickers? Then sending in our computers because G-sync has suddenly stopped working?

Hahaha ... that's glorious.

But no. The laptop gets serviced as the laptop it is, not the laptop you want it to be. They have a full list of specs assigned to each model number and ID.

But if it does fool anyone, that would be ridiculously ironic.
