https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?82612-G-SYNC-Upgrade-on-ROG-G751JY-JT-Laptops-Now-Availabl...

Hello all,

Asus seems undecided on whether they're going to allow official G-SYNC support on the existing G751's purchased before now (? - I don't know the official date, they just said this month I believe).

Please "sign" this petition by posting... even if you don't think you'll need the feature, you'll want it someday, trust me.

ASUS: Even if there are licensing fees involved or whatever, if that is indeed the reason you wouldn't offer it to existing owners.. then at least let us pay the fee for it! Something... anything!

The amount of brand-loyalty to be gained from giving this feature to existing owners would build more goodwill than you're imagining. Market it! Tell the world that you were the first to give this major support release to existing owners!

Thanks!

Agree! Maybe this will put someone in mind.

BETA drivers, as in not the release version. Since those drivers probably lack the checks needed to verify that the screen properly supports G-Sync, ...

what you don't understand is that all G751 JY/JT (g-sync enabled and earlier versions without g-sync) have exactly THE SAME screen panel. With exactly THE SMAE EDID and model ID and producer ID and.... THE SAME PANEL
so yeah it IS properly supporting g-sync

And you can't enable g-sync on ANY laptop with beta driver. Becouse beta driver actually is checking for gpu (980m or 970m) and for panel (just as the mobile g-sync requirements state - except the "license")

And like I said in the other thread... Early g751 jy/jt owners should get g-sync because nvidia was checking the panel for 75Hz without their knowledge with official whql non beta drivers on their units (it was not mentioned single time in the changelog).

Anyone saying anything against this is just a cynical nutjob who has always been told, be happy with what you got, even if you always been sitting with low tier products while everyone got almost top tier for just a small sum more. BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU GOT?! NO!! NEVER SETTLE!

When you beta test software like Microsoft Office, do you automatically get the new version for free? No you don't. In fact, Microsoft has now made an Office 365 subscription a requirement to even get to test the new versions of Office. You might want to read the EULA in full before making demands of nVidia that have no legal backing/justification/predecents, and all this talk of filing a class-action lawsuit is pointless unless you get thousands of people to support it. Given that it's just a handful of people even crying about this, I doubt you have enough people to even attempt to file a suit against nVidia, let alone demonstrate enough harm (which is what you need for a class-action lawsuit) to warrant class-action status.

But most of the time you don't need a Brand New +2000$ computer to run a software that already works on your machine..... Which this G-sync **** is?

So don't come and give us that BS.

It feels really nice to lose a lot of money to sell your current and buy an almost identical for 400$ loss for just one feature that actually works with the your current machine without any real problems /S*

well yeah... You at least KNOW you do beta test, it was your choice to sign in for beta or to download the beta version...

Like I said, i'm talking about 347+ official non-beta drivers. And EULA lets nvidia gather information about gpu and driver working BUT not to change how other parts of my laptop work, at least not without further notice - so I can decide weather I want to beta test 75 Hz (on 60 Hz panel as described by producer) or not.
They did it sneaky way - that is a fact and out of a question. So stop giving examples that don't fit the case

Here's the thing - NOTHING that nVidia did regarding beta drivers (which have specific terminology in the EULA stating that not all features may be present in the final release) is enough to even get a lawyer to sniff around a possible class action lawsuit. You would have to be able to demonstrate how those particular beta drivers harmed you or your system, and you would have to have enough other people also be able to demonstrate harm caused by those drivers. Simply crying foul because they enabled G-Sync in a beta driver without some sort of formal notification will NOT suffice for an individual lawsuit, let alone something elevated to class-action status.
