Nvidia GeForce driver update: 296.16

Nvidia has fixed the bug that prevented our QC team from officiating their drivers on our G and VX series laptops. Our product page download links will be updated soon with Forceware 296.16 soon 🙂

As usual we recommend not downloading from 3rd party driver sites as you'll never know if it has hidden malware.

Download link from ASUS in first post.

I'm testing this now:

-Clean install
-No 3D options (not available on my G53SX anyway)

EDIT: 100% fine here.

Downloaded the driver, and I'm currently testing it out 🙂
So far no problems ^^

Thanks! 😄

EDIT: I got one issue with this driver after I performed a clean install of it, and that is (happens rarely) when I close a tab in IE9 the screen turns black and then on again without any warnings -.-
(driver before update: 296.10, from nVidia support and had the same issue on that too)

I'm also testing the 296.16 Forceware and so far, so good.

One question, though. Why isn't there any PhysX System software included in it?..
I had to re-install the 296.10 PhysX System just to have it.

@JerJer and @Slayerking - you are reporting an NVIDIA driver issue that would be best addressed on the Official NVIDIA driver feedback threads over at the NVIDIA Forum. If NVIDIA does not know of your driver issues, they won't be fixing 'em.

I started a thread on their forums. Other users with this problem should chime in as well (On this forum and over at nvidia

It would still be nice to hear a reply from someone at asus

*UPDATE*
So I went over to the nvidia forums and started a thread about these horizontal lines - this one and there is another thread also over there on the same issue - this one. Anyway, after doing that I submitted a ticket, then contacted live support and was told they (nvidia) would be investigating this issue. You can visit 1st link I posted to view a transcript of the chat with the live agent. Today I was contacted by someone from nvidia, and was told they would be further investigating the issue and contacting asus to try to get it resolved. Here is the response I received:

Hello,

Thank you for your bug submission. This is a known issue we are currently investigating with ASUS. The problem has been confirmed to be unique to this particular LCD panel. As We suspect the issue is related to our dithering mode, and that this particular LCD panel is also doing dithering. The symptom may be a side effect due to the panel doing dithering itself, and our GPU doing the dithering again. We are in contact with ASUS to confirm with the panel manufacturer about the panel built-in dithering. I think once we know more about the specification of this LCD panel then we'll have a better idea how to resolve the problem. Thanks for bring this to our attention.

So hopefully there will be a fix coming soon.

To firmware:

It is only for G75's GPU.

This driver broke 3d vision for me 😞 It was working on the 296.10 driver and now when you enable 3d vision is just disables 2 seconds later.
