nostrora

I have a G75VX .. and it is impossible for me to download the Nvidia drivers because I can only install the "old" nvidia asus

why Asus decided to do otherwise. with this choice, it can not take advantage of new updates from NVIDIA.
I am stuck at 306.14 .. Cool thanks asus .. WHY! : @

I just bought a laptop gamer to 1500 € for learn that I could not even get the latest update nvidia ..
AND IS IT A NOTEBOOK FOR GAMER.... !! ;@

@12er, thats because you need the other pieces of the file intact. I believe that what you modified is setting the kernel versions to install on:
6.0 - Win Vista
6.1 - Win 7
6.2 - Win 8

The last bit says that this driver works for this (given) hardware.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

I know idont own an Asus but i need some serious help. I recently upgraded the graphics card in my Alienware M17x R3 to the 670MX but every time i try and install any drivers even the 306.14 let alone the 310.7 i get the same issue all of you are getting saying the graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware. Ive literally tried every solution on this thread. Im running windows 8 and although nvidia can detect that the card is a 670mx the machine just displays it as "microsoft basic display adaptor". Please help me it will be much appreciated...

I think you'll get more help on Alienware forum( if there is one). But people here should be able to help you out too.

nVidia has not yet released an official driver that supports the GTX 670MX. Look at the supported devices tab...

Have you tried installing the driver in Safe Mode? Namely, uninstalling the ASUS driver and installing the nVidia ones after a reboot? That may help.

I really wonder how much improvement there is gonna be going from 306.14 to 370.14 on a 670 MX. I already OCed the gpu and got extremely satisfying improvements in FPS in games and at 3dmark11. At stock Core clock and Memory clock speeds I was getting around 3750 for a score. Now it is 4600 and I have another 600mhz more to the top for the Memory clock speed. The gpu temp has gone up like 3-4C which is acceptable. If I get another 10-20% going from 306.14 to 370.14 that would be sweetness! We have to figure out a way how to bypass the restriction and install the drivers, or just have Asus keep up with nvidia because this is really outrageous! Come on Asus! This is the only disappointment in buying an Asus gaming laptop so far!

Uninstalling the drivers and installing the nvidia ones after a reboot does not work. I can confirm that. Even if you have internet connection off. In the beginning of the installation it says "No compatible hardware"or something like that 😞

P.S. Don't you guys love how the G75VX fan openings look on the back? It's like a freaking Murcielago!

@npanushev, are you on Win8 or Win7 when running 3dmark11 on 670mx ~306.14 driver?

just have to install the drivers using the new inf files after you disable graphics driver certificates at boot up. You can do that by going into advanced boot options. I think this is only a windows 8 thing.

Right, I'am on Windows 7 and Nvidia 310.70 Beta Drivers now. Just copied the modified .inf file to Display.Drivers and started the setup. Everything went fine. Dunno if it also works with the WHQL drivers. No improvements in 3Dmark11 as far as I have seen. (also getting around 4600 Points with OC)
