NoteBooks specs are overkill for the wrong reason...

Ok I know for most people more is better...but sometimes thats not always the case...

Technically you dont need more than 4 GB of memory for a lot of games cause a lot of games still run on 32-Bit environment...Ok some games run on 64-bit now but they still dont require that much...

Most of us will be fine with 6GB...

What kills me is we get NoteBook GPU's with crazy VRAM like 3GB...a lot of games dont even require more than 1GB...a 128-bit, 256-bit bus can only fill maybe up to 2GB and thats with higher resolution than 1920x1080 and crazy Aliasing setting that will bring the game to like 5-10 fps so theres realy no point even then...

My point is with the money we spend on these Laptops they could cut parts we dont realy need to make it more cheaper or use it on more meaningful upgrades like a better GPU would make more sence than just putting more VRAM...

To me the G74sx would have been more better if the Keep it at 8GB Ram instead of 12GB, and left it at 1.5GB Vram instead of 3GB which you wont be able to tell the performance increase...and instead of putting a GTX 560m...put a GTX 470m at least, which would be more benificial on MSAA/FSAA settings compared to just slapping more RAM into it...

As it stands now the G74sx will probably be jus about 10% performance difference compared to the G73sw...

Whats worse is that its even possible that the new G53sx will have decrease performance even if it has the new GTX560m when you compare it to the current G53sw which has the GTX460m...that whole 2GB VRAM bugs me cause you can only get a 2GB setup if you have a 128-bit memory bus...the current G53sw 1.5GB setup is only possible with a 192-bit bus...

Pretty much as that goes, the Asus reps in charge will do whatever NVIDIA tells them to do. *sigh*
