Just purchased the laptop and noticed it has three? hard drives. I was under the impression that it had a 1Tb HD but when I look in "my computer" I have three.

#1 c:drive is labeled "OS" and says 440gb
#2 d:drive is labeled "SDATA1" and says 232gb
#3 e:drive is labeled "SDATA2" and again says 232gb

Is this just the 1Tb HD partitioned? If not what is going on....if so how do I utilize them to best support the computers
performance.

Thank you for the help!!!

Those are just volumes, commonly called drives. That's not the same as physical hard disks.

You have two 500Gb hard disks. One has the C: partition on it (along with a hidden 25Gb recovery partition), and the other has been partitioned into two 232Gb data drives.
