No Boot devices after G75VW BIOS update

Hey there,
I purchased a G75VW about a year ago. Tried to get used to win8 (pre 8.1 mind you) but found it utterly frustrating and counter productive. I decided to install win7 x64 pro which took some finagling with the UEFI bios settings just to get installed. My wife accidentally opened up some bogus emails a while back which we think installed the virus that prompted me to format and re-install the OS. The new OS install was going very smoothly. I had all the drivers installed and most of the asus utilities. I read that one of the BIOS updates on the asus site was supposed to fix an issue with HDMI video output which had never worked previously. I decided to try flashing the BIOS with the update because we would really like to be able to run an HDMI cable from the G75VW to our TV. I downloaded the winflash utility and flashed the BIOS. everything appeared to run smoothly and i restarted the system. On startup though i get sent to the BIOS screen and there are no boot devices listed in my bios. I tried F9 then F10 like the documentation said and that doesnt do anything. I even tried switching my sata boot devices over to IDE and messing with a bunch of other settings. no matter what i do i cant get it to recognize any boot device. At this point i dont even care about data recovery if i can just get it to boot again and reinstall the OS.
thanks,
Bones

If you can get into the BIOS
extract your BIOS File directly to a USB thumb Drive that is formatted FAT32, Install that BIOS using Ezflash in the BIOS.
You can not copy the bios file to the Thumb Drive you have to extract it to the thumb drive
If you Cant get into the BIOS, with the Same Thumb Drive in boot up holding the Ctrl and home keys down. you may have to try this a few times. If Ezflash comes up and can't find the BIOS File. Your probably screwed

thanks for the reply. I am unsure what you mean by extract the bios file unless you mean extracting it from the zip archive. I was able to see the file in ezflash on my thumb drive but i got an error saying "build date too old".

Hi,

Try loading the bios defaults and saving and exiting if you haven't already which normally doesn't make much difference, but still would try it to be sure.

Do you see options for 'launch CSM' in the bios 'boot' menu and 'secure boot control'/'secure boot' under the 'security menu?
If you haven't already, try enabling 'launch CSM', disabling secure boot/secure boot control and saving and exiting before checking your boot devices again in the bios since you will not see an update for this until you save and exit.

Although it is pretty much the same thing, you can also try tapping the 'ESC' key a couple times when the ROG logo appears and waiting for the boot menu if you don't want to set the boot order in the bios, but you may want to try this too.

Good luck!
