newbie question? Is GSync just for external monitor or also for laptop's display?

My apologies for the very basic question, but I don't see this explained and I am trying to figure this out.

Is Gsync just for external monitors that are GSync supported or should GSync show in the NVidia control panel with no monitor connected, so for the laptop's display?

Model: G752VT-RH71 with 970m

Thanks in advance!

Nvidia G-sync is supported by that laptop. There has been a big issue with that model (G752VT-RH71) having a defect of no g-sync to be found anywhere in the system. You can read about it here: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?78698-G752-with-no-G-Sync

I, myself, dealt with this problem in 3 different computers. I returned them all and have since cut my ties with that model and am waiting on a G752VY. I would suggest returning your laptop while in the return period and hoping you get luckier with the second one you get.

I really wish ASUS would address this situation and this first roll out of laptops would have been quality checked a little better.

Thank you very much! I ran back to Microcenter and picked up a replacement, I was going to wait for the G752VY, but the RG752VT-RH71 is on sale for $1299, so I went ahead and bought it.
2nd unit has GSync working fine... I guess it is a crap shoot.

Absolutely is just that... a crap shoot. No way to know if your unit is defective or not until you get through the Win 10 boot up / set up and can check the Nvidia properties.
I didn't have as much luck as you did, oh well. What Microcenter did you get yours at? I was dealing with Microcenter as well.

Microcenter in Dallas, TX / Richardson, TX - I forget if that is Dallas or Richardson
I was in and out with a replacement in minutes. I figured that getting the G752VT-RH71 at 1299 and adding an SSD and extra RAM was a cheaper deal than waiting for the G752VY, otherwise I would waited.

I have the VT and had no trouble with not having Gsync.
