New Upcoming G Series Laptops?

Hi, I was wondering if any thinks that a new Asus G laptop will come out soon. Currently, I've seen rumours of the Asus G750 possibly coming with the new Haswell cpu and GT700 series from Nvidia.

As of now, I am looking into buying an Asus G75VX($1299) by the end of April. Should I bother buying it then, or just wait and see if a new 17" comes out?

Thank you.

Almost every new nvidia chip that comes put is a rebrand. It's the evolution on gpu's every year. Rebrand or not it's a step forward. The question is how many steps are you willing to wait befor you buy.

New or just another refresh? I'm guess a haswell refresh

@bignazpwns, i think we can call it new because the chipset, cpu, and gpu (key components imo) are different 😄

to be honest i'm excited. i hope they can get the weight down a little on the new G55 and maybe up the battery life.

i'm thinking about taking the plunge on a G46 but i'd like to wait about 6 months or so.

Haswell is more power-efficient, so that should improve the battery life. I'm not confidant about the weight, since that is more a function of the cooling system (ASUS better not damage this) and battery, both of which will increase weight if the performance is increased.

We now have 178 people whose systems will not break! Yippee! 🙂

After installing an mSATA in my old G55 I definitely wanted something more user-upradeable. I wen't with a Clevo P150em and I love it! I ended up ordering it bare-bone to save a lot of money. (Well kind of). It came with an i7 3630 and I splurged for the GTX 680m. There was no RAM, HDD, OS. I figured why pay for it when I am going to change the RAM, HDD to a SSD, and now I have my own install disk. 🙂

I could have upgraded the processor as well, but the 0.X gain to price ratio is retarded in my opinion.

yeah i have to agree that it's PITA to put the mSATA in the laptop.

wow it's so nice you can get the barebone in that form! i am upgrading my cpu next week. i don't mind being a retard 😄 just enjoy doing the upgrades myself haha!

i bet the power brick is smaller this time (150w, if the posted specs are right).

the cooling of asus machines is the most apparent differentiator from competitions, imo (that's the main reason i like this g55 more than m17x r4 :/)

That's what I've found. Most of the other gaming notebooks I've seen generate a ton of noise, and are often only marginally faster. I would rather have the reduced noise because I don't game (and I have a G53SX LOL :p). One of my buddies has the Toshiba Qosmio, and he says that it has really good cooling, along with fairly low noise emissions, which I'd believe, considering the size of the cooling slot on the side.
