New SSD for my JW... Now What?

K so, just got a new JW model for the holidays from amazon so its the db71 model with 12gb of ram. obviously the only thing to do is get a SSD for it which I did... I now have a 1TB Samsung 840 EVO, I have seen both suggestions posted here and other sites... clone the original drive to the SSD or start from scratch with a windows 8/8.1 image and then load up all the software it came with from ASUS' support files. That being said which way should I go. I already did the cloning just to get it up and running to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with the drive and that it functioned properly, but i have no problem wiping it and doing a start from scratch install. (I used Samsung's software that came with the drive to do the mirroring).

Next, I saw in a different thread about setting up the BIOS boot page and all I had available was the [windows boot manage...] option which it seemed like someone was having an issue with that, mine boots perfectly fine so I'm not exactly sure if this is a problem or not and I don't recall how it was with the spin drive. Any suggestions on that?

I have read through the guide on overclock from Sean about how to set up your SSD for win 8, as well as that other guide specific to the g750jw on that other site which can't be mentioned so I think I'm pretty ok once everything is decided on how to set up and install everything.

I did use macrium reflect free to make an image copy of the original HD on an external drive I have as well as set up a thumb drive using the ASUS Backtracker program. Also just for info sake, when I used Samsung's migration software it moved the windows c partition as well as the 900mb and 350mb recovery. was it supposed to move anything else? thanks to all for any help and suggestions!

damn it that sounds logical and smart too....

Until you realise that a couple of months down the road the clean install will have also seen driver updates, software uninstallations/updates and the like. Will you clean install then as well?

I personally create a system image via Macrium Reflect after the clean install / configuring all my settings / folder libraries / windows up dated

then I install drivers and software

if ever there were many software/driver updates I just restore that image it takes me 5 minutes and I start from a clean state

I'm a perfectionist that's why
