New Rog 75vx owner. Memory and SSD recommendations

Hi, purchased a G75VX in 2015 on ebay. Noticed a lot of you got yours in 2013, so was hoping for some advice. I have removed the hard drive and the memory and sold it all on ebay. I prefer to use new hard drives; it came with 16gb of memory in 4x4gb sticks. I want to use 32gb so I need 4x 8gb. I had to take the entire laptop apart to get at the memory under the keyboard. I want some recommendations on which brand/model of memory (4x8gb) you have used, and what model SSD you have used. Please let me know the brand and model number of any hard drives and memory that work and are stable with the G75vx. Hoping your advice will help me avoid purchasing parts that are not compatible. Thanks in advance for your help.

Check out the sticky threads on top of the forum, you will find all the information there. Personally I have a Samsung 850pro SSD and Patriot 1600mhz CL11 Ram.
On a side note I hope you made a recovery disk before selling the hard drive, unless you plan on installing fresh Windows OS with a new serial key, since old one is tied to the BIOS but not extractable afaik.

Hi, I have gone through the memory sticky - scary reading. I sold my memory without testing the timings. I have the MPN of the memory, it was the stock Hynix stuff. From what I can see, I need to purchase 32gb memory with timings 11-11-11-28 (DDR3 PC3-12800 SODIMM 1600mhz CL11 1.5V RAM. I have been looking at other forum user's signatures and noted a few use Kingston HyperX so I might try that brand.

I have been looking at these. opinions?

Kingston HyperX Impact 16GB DDR3 1600MHz MPN. HX316LS9IBK2/16

voltage. 1.35
latency: CL9

Or are the latency and voltage a problem? Cheers.

Or these.

Crucial Ballistix Sport

would u have to rempove the old ram???

I have 2x Hynix 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz non-ECC Unbuffered HMT351S6CFR8C-PB
16491

I am concerned that adding Crucial Ballistix Sport

would there be a conflict / problems ???

I have seen that Kingston makes Ram with te same specs as the Hynix, (don't have the model # on hand).
I would want to get 2 x 8gb to add to the 2 x 4gb of Hynix.

Or am I causing problems??
I thought I saw somewhere that Corsair ram should be avoided with the g75 vx??

Any info would be appreciated.

Awaiting my crucial ballistix sport. I removed all the Hynix memory. Will update once it has arrived and I have installed it.

that couldn't have been fun, removing the old ram!!!
I think I am reluctant to pull apart the keyboard etc to do that.
Was there an easier way that u found???

If you dont want to take it apart to get to the back set of RAM, take it to, best buy, Tiger Direct, Fry's or some other computer store and let them do it. It wont cost alot, and you wont have to worry about messing it up. Ive taken apart laptops before that were trash just to see how they come apart, and its easy to screw it up if you do something wrong.
