Wanted to let people know that I have had my machine for over 2 weeks. Had no issue with the origianl setup. Did a complete wipe of the SSD and installed Windows Ultimate with the updated ASUS Drivers found thru this forum. Purchased PowerDVD 12 Ultimate for Blueray and DVD playback and Power2Go 8 Platinum for my burning software and have no known issues at this time. A satisfied G74 Owner:D

Great to hear success stories! Mine too has been going strong for 3 months with nary an issue. Sometimes wonder if our G74s are in the minority...

Only real bug I had was with the Atheros wifi card dropping me while gaming 4-5 times an hour. Simple fix was to set the connection to 802.11 b/g instead of Auto. I ordered the Intel 6230 card from Amazon which should be here today actually.

You shouldn't have to downgrade to 802.11g speeds to get a stable connection. If you run an 802.11n network, like most people, you should definitely be able to take advantage of that and get a pretty solid 150Mbps.

That's the thing, I dont run 802.11n. Why it was dumping when set to auto I dont know but it seems others have various issues with the Atheros card as well. The change stopped the drops but new Intel 6230 card will be here today so I don't plan on fighting with it. Bigger battles to fight in other areas of my life ya know. I just wanna play my damn games and relax.

RIght click on your Atheros Wireless Network Adapter in Device Manager and choose "Properties" from the popup menu. Then choose the "Advanced" tab and change your "Wireless Mode Selection".
However, I think you should update your Atheros driver to version 9.2.1.432 or later. The stock version has notorious DPC Latency that could contribute to your disconnections.
I also recommend configuring your router and Windows to use "WPA2-Personal" Security and "AES" Encrpytion if you continue to have problems with "N" protocol disconnections.
