New Laptop Experience

I got fed up with my year old HP laptop.
SSD drive would not always boot, video drivers were always behind the current ones because they had to be HP drivers, unreliable in games (crashing).
Asus has always been good to me in the past so they got my 1600 USD.
Well packaged nice looking, booted right up. Unfortunately it came with Win8 which sat there and defied me to do something intelligent. I could not find a way to reboot it for windows update without going on the web.
I got two games installed, neither run, missing DX .dll files. WoW runs so not a total loss.
Then I started reading about going back to Win 7 and the nightmares that entails.
I got into the BIOS and was distressed, where is my ROG bios? I put in the SSD, and see it in the BIOS but not as an install option for my Win 7. No way that is a gamer's BIOS, not enough control.

Sorry Asus, I got a laptop from you for gaming, not to learn Windows 8 and work arounds to get games running.

I have three days to fix it up, if I cannot make it work, it goes back.

First off read this sticky thread, it explains and has guides for downgrading to windows 7, a couple of points you must us a ISO win7 SP1, must be SP1 to support UEFI GPT. The second point is to create your install media USB is best, to boot and install UEFI GPT. Your SSD should be Clean, as in no partitions no format. Clean, The issue your experiencing is most likely your SSD is BIOS MBR and your system is UEFI GPT, If you must set up your SSD set it up UEFI GPT.

One more important thing to do first before anything else download backtracker and create a restore to factory condition disk set. Just incase at some time in the future you need or want to restore your notebook back to factory shipped conditon
