New G750JS, upgrade GPU, I should have considered long term.

I just purchased a G750JS (G750JS-NH71) on Newegg for $1200, great price, (upgrade from a older notebook, rather not say).

It is configured as standard notebook configuration for this model.

i7-4710HQ
nVidia 870m
16GB Ram

I am looking to keep this for 2 to 3 years, but of course with the gaming requirements increasing demands. I have been told on STEAM forum that the 870m, may not last more then a year. I am looking to play "dying light" and members say this notebook will not cut the requirements for this game.

Is this model capable of being upgraded to 970m at a later date??

Also, can anyone recommend at notebook case or backpack for this notebook??

NO. the answer is definitively NO you can not upgrade your gpu without soldering a mod to your machine or a foundry to manufacture your own cards.

HOWEVER if you find an identical card, and the one inside yours is ever broken, that will fit.

samsonite xenon 2 17.3 inch is the case for you ;]. nice warranty too

Thanks for the reply, well I hope the 870m will last me about about 3 years, as I warrantied the notebook for 3 year.

I picked this up a amazon.com.....http://www.amazon.com/Eco-Friendly-Canvas-Messenger-17-3-Inch-Black/dp/B0029L5SQ4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8...

Thanks again.

A lot of people frown on laptop GPU's in general as most are not adequate for gaming, but you have a gaming oriented laptop. An 870m should do perfectly fine in that game. If you look at the minimum specs, you surpass those and are closer to the recommended specs. You should be fine (even though the specs are pretty hefty I must say).

(ROG has simply become too expensive compared to the competition with same specs... 😞 )

Aaaaaand that's why you should never ask advice from idiots on steam. That heap of junk (that is dying light) will work just fine on the 870m 😄
