New G551jw motherboard overheating

Hi, I just bought my first gaming laptop a few days ago and I'm trying to figure it if this is a hardware defect or if I'm doing something wrong. My cpu and mother board are idling at around 40-45C and when I play CS GO on minimum settings it shoots up to 80-85C within about 30 sec, while my gpu is at 70-75C.
Im wondering if anyone knows of anything i can do to fix the issue before i send it back and have to wait a week or two for a replacement to arrive.

How is 85c on minimum settings normal? That seems really hot

Setting doesn't always matter, the only difference is that lower settings gives higher FPS - not lower temps.

Most new laptops with quadcore CPU and GTX level GPU will have around 85-90C CPU temp and 70-85C GPU temp (depending on GPU model and laptop model).

Its normal according to the manufacturer, I had mine with even worse temperatures while playing GTA 5

Where can i find that information? Now im curious at what point would it be considered overheating?
also, are these temps considered high compared to other laptops or is this more of a normal operating temp?

According to Intels website 4720hq´s max temperature is 100 degrees celcius. My unit with 4710hq had the same max temp and my CPU reached up to 96-98 degrees celcius - thats the point where I started to worry and returned this PC for good.
So I think 80-85 is good enough for cpu and 70-75 for gpu is good also.

One small easy trick to try is to set the maximum processor state to 99% which disables the CPU Turbo clock and quite significally reduces the heat that way.

GPU max temp must be similar to CPU max temp. Otherwise they may "overheat" each other.
There will be no problem with 85C for Maxwell core.

CPU allows up to 100C per intel spec. And 100C for the CPU should not be a problem, but heating up surrounding components might be a problem in the long run.

i see zero problems here ... everything is normal for you. When the Game starts the fan kicks gear to push out the heat !!//
