Robin7S, you need to tell us what you tried to do to take a backup, and how it didn't work.

The Asus Backtracker Backup only backs up the Asus OEM recovery partition, which is Windows 8.0. So when you restore from an Asus Backtracker Flash drive it will only recreate the original out of the box Windows 8.0 build on the 2 drives in the internal drive bays. It doesn't back up anything else.

If you want to back up your current configuration, you need a backup program, or an imaging tool. I use Macrium Reflect, and make a backup image to an external drive.

I also use Macrium Reflect to clone from one drive to another, which will also backup the current configuration on one drive to another drive. Like cloning your boot drive to your new SSD.

After cloning, don't erase your original drive until you are sure the new SSD clone is working 🙂

If you keep your original drive intact, you can repartition the new SSD - backup the DATA partition data, delete that partition and the recovery partition and absorb the free space into the C drive.

The RAID0 C drive (Disk 1) now has more room, the Samsung Pro 512GB (Disk 0) has the original boot drive partitioning, for example.

thanks have not tried anything no, need to get a usb flash. i be back when i have tried, thank you

That is the only drawback to getting a Windows 8.0 G750 instead of a newer Windows 8.1 G750.

If you have a WIndows 8.0 G750 your backup recover flash drive will be a Windows 8.0 restore - and you then need to go through the whole process of updating to all the Windows 8.0 updates, installing all the latest Windows 8.1 drivers, doing the Microsoft Store Windows 8.1 upgrade, and then do all the Windows 8.1 updates.

It's a rewarding Zen-like process 🙂

Once done, you can use Macrium Refect to do an image backup of the completed upgrade/patched Windows 8.1 boot drive, so you can restore to it in the future should you have a problem - instead of doing the whole recovery / upgrade / update process all over again.

Update: I am assuming you did a normal Windows upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1, and you didn't reinstall from a Windows 8.1 DVD that blows away partitioning, deleting the recovery partition. If you lost the recovery partition, you have to already have backed it up using Asus Backtracker, or you are going to have to find someone with an intact partition to backup (of the same model G750), or RMA to Asus to get it re-imaged back to the shipping OEM Asus configuration.

In my opinion, you'd better find a Win8 first, you can find a one from your friends. Then clone it from his/her pc with backup/clone software(eg. aomei backupper: http://www.backup-utility.com) to your PC. You can also backup from his/hers then restore. Good luck
