Need Battery Advice Please - G73JH-1A

Hi I'm new here. Please forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong section.

I recently bought my dads old laptop, a G73JH-1A. I was already aware the battery wasn't that great, so I'm not surprised it's having problems with power. I think he bought it in may 2011.. and I don't think he ever changed the battery. So more than likely the battery is practically dead, though it seems to still be able to hold a small charge. But even if it says it's 99% charged, it will still randomly shut off. Then when you turn it back on it'll say its at 0% and that there's battery problems. Aside from that though, this laptop is freaking awesome!!!


So here is where I need advice, first off, should I even bother trying to see if the battery is really dead or just needs to be recalibrated?
Or should I just buy a new battery? I'm guessing this is probably what I will need to do, so can you guys please recommend a good replacement and where to buy it?

I've already found plenty but there's no reviews on those... so I'm hoping maybe some of you have been through this and can suggest a great battery.

I've replaced my battery 2x from here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AJY7L4A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
but they only last ~1yr......I don't know if it't the battery or the computer.
So I just run it on AC now.

Thanks for that. I noticed it said 18 month warranty. Since you said yours only lasted a year, did they give you the second one under warranty?

re: warranty......yes, but it was difficult to contact them....I think I had to pay shipping and wait till they got it back.
They actually sent the replacement before returned the old one, but it failed after maybe 6mos,
and I decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

But it could be the controller in the computer.......I don't want to spend more money to find out. I'm OK
just using AC.

Ok thanks! I'll give it about another week. If I get no other recommendations to consider, I'll just buy that one.
