Need a wee bit of advice

So, I recently got my Asus G750JW back from its second round of being repaired.

To make a long story short;

The first repair was due to a GPU failure around a month after initially buying it. Sent it out through, per instruction by Asus Customer Service, Geek Squad at the Best Buy I bought it from. Got it back, and everything was fine.

Fast forward about two months, and all of a sudden I'm experiencing an issue with my laptop not starting up at all. Took it back to Geek Squad and sent it back out. I just picked it back up yesterday, turns out the Motherboard and Hard Drive needed to be replaced.

Now that I practically have a new computer... I gotta say, I'm not too happy with the laptop now. The keyboard no longer lights up, the fan is making an odd clicking noise, you can hear something rattling inside the case, and due to the Hard Drive being swapped, I no longer have all the proper Asus/Windows files. I tried doing a factory reset when I got it back, and Windows told me I was missing some necessary files and that I needed a media disk.

So, where the laptop seems to be performing better, I seem to have inherited some new rather annoying problems.

So, with all that said... I guess my question is, how do I proceed? Its still under warranty, so do I just take it back to Geek Squad, and have it handled again? Me being rather computer savvy, do I just play rebel and crack it open myself? Can Asus customer service do anything for me, mostly on terms of the missing Windows files? I know its a stretch, but, what are the chances of just getting a replacement? I'm growing rather resentful of this particular unit...

In other words, how would you, the community, proceed in this situation?

if its still under warranty, then keep taking it back till its done right. i would keep calling asus until i got with somebody of some significance. write emails, etc. find some way to make the repair team run full tests and make sure everything is working right and not specific problems. im sure if you put in a repair order, all they will do is fix the problem and not look at anything else.

It came back from service broken, twice.

At some point it's officially a lemon.

You paid for a functioning computer, you did your part.

I'd push hard for a new computer.

I just ordered my JZ from Best Buy an hour ago. It's a work machine so I dropped $480.00 on a 3 year service contract. I was told I could get my money back if it breaks and can't get fixed.

Good luck.

It sounds like the service technician(s) dropped the ball, which may not make for much confidence in sending it in again, but that may be the case. That or demanding a new unit.

The keyboard no longer lights up...

Either the LEDs are faulty, or the more likely situation is that they did not connect the cable properly.

the fan is making an odd clicking noise...

The blades may be hitting something, such as a cable (hopefully not a screw). Or if it's the drive, it sounds like it's not parking correctly and is defective.

THAT sounds like a loose screw or plastic clip that may have broken off, which is egregious. The latter problem sounds like they did not load the factory image back on properly.

Definitely have Asus correct it, either by servicing it or replacing it.
