My G751JY loads some internet pages really slowly

I've been having this issue for a long time (not sure how long), some internet pages that require the browser to load resources/images/whatever are laggy as all hell. Sometimes they load fine, but other times it takes forever to load thumbnails of videos on Youtube or images on Google Images.

I clean my cache and registry, using CCleaner, fairly often so it's not a clutter issue. I scan my computer fairly often too, using Malwarebytes and Windows Defender, and never found a threat so it's not a virus/malware issue. I have no internet toolbars, speed enhancing apps or any other programs of the kind. I also have my drivers up to date

I'm starting to think that it's just the Intel Dual Band AC 7260 being a pain in the ass, but maybe you guys can give me some pointers on what may be.

Thank you for your time.

If you haven't already uninstall Game First, this is the primary cause for network related issue.

Consider other sources for the cause. For instance my ISP has craptastic DNS servers that cause all sorts of issues (Smart Wireless) simply using Google's DNS servers makes it a very solid connection (8.8.8.8, 8.8.8.4) same goes with using a VPN connection.

You can also use the developer mode in your browser (press F12), most all have a timeline feature that will show you how long each task takes, this might point you in the correct direction.

As well if it is just particular sites having issues it may be a peering issue where your ISP has week pipe to certain routes, I have this issue as well and that is one of my main reasons for having a VPN (nordvpn.com) as I can connect to different servers to get around lousy routes.

These workarounds allow me to leverage a not so great ISP to its fullest. While others complain I get 10 - 30Mbps steady and solid page loads at a price no other ISP can match (here in the Philippines).

So basically, I need to test the s*** out of my modem/router settings. I have no idea how to do it though, guess I should give my ISP a call.

I'll give your suggestions a try. Thanks 🙂

If it is a peering issue router tweaking will not help you as the ISP controls the routes from your router. Again IF this is the case then a VPN is a viable solution, perhaps try one with a free trial for some quick A/B testing.

Though depending on your router you can set it up to handle your VPN connection so all client devices have their traffic go through the tunnel. I prefer routers that work with DD-WRT firmware as it makes such things easy to achieve.

Is this only when browsing the internet or do you experience lag in online games also? What browser do you primarily use?
ROG G551JW - i7 - 4720HQ - GTX 960 2GB - 16GB RAM
ROG G751 - i7- 4710HQ - GTX 970M 3GB - 16GB RAM

Forgot to say that no, I unninstalled Gamefirst III as soon as my laptop arrived.

Ok, so how do I configure my connection to use Google DNS servers?

I don't usually play online games, but when I do (Dark Souls) I can't seem to recall any issues. Then again, Dark Souls' servers aren't known for their consistent quality...

I mostly use Chrome, but I also use Edge every once in awhile.

I'm currently using the Google public DNS servers, through ethernet. So far so good, but i'll only notice an improvement after some time with it.
