My G751JT-CH71+ 256GB SSD After 40 days Review

After 40 days of using this Laptop, I guess, i can give a honest opinion to this machine, Base on Specs, this laptop is a Bang for your money. it got a great GPU and A better Cooling system, Which is the most important to me cause i live in a very hot climate, Even if i don't have the mPCIe SSD, this thing still boots 4-8 sec with my Samsung EVO. here are what i find good and bad on this laptop..

-Design and aesthetics, nice and slick although most people wont agree 🙂 i like the look but i don't like the materials used. i got a very sweaty hands so rubber matte is not a good choice since its a sweat magnet, and sometimes becomes sticky when it got old.
i think at least they should have put the rubber matte finish on the outside only.

-IPS screen, Good but some has those IPS bleed (thank god i don't have any) i just have those minor glow which is common on LG screens aside from that its ok.

-Sockets - Enough USB plugs for my devices, but i don't like all the sockets on the right side, i think who ever design this is a lefty, cause when you use mouse and have all those plugs used( HDMi, USB AUDIO) those wires will get in the way. Audio Jack i think should be on the left side, most single wired headphones i have are on the left side (i don't use wireless),

-Keyboard - looks nice but poor layout- i dont mind the red backlight but at least the written letters on the keyboard should be at least visible even without the backlight on, changing numlock to game central button is fine with me since you don't actually press numlock all the time (Numlock now is "fn+home"), What i really dont like is putting the shadowplay button near the escape button, again who ever design this is definitely a Lefty 😛 (I dont use the laptop keyboard that often cause i dont like my laptop keyboard to get dirty and oily due to my sweaty hands on rubber matte finish and i like using my very old Microsoft keyboard)

-Cooling system- This is the most important for me, since my room Temp reach 25-30c my CPU-GPU temp remain below 75c even after playing AC4, TomRaider, BlackOps 2 on Ultra settings for more than 3-4 hours, i give this a 2 Thumbs Up. my average CPU temp is between 45-60c while my GPU temp is steady on 35-50c on a Room Temp of 30c

-Sound/Speaker - I will not comment on this since mostly Everybody knows the issue

Overall. I Still like this Laptop, if you like a "Mobile Gaming Desktop" Replacement this is a great choice but if you are more on a Portable Gaming Laptop, this thing is very heavy and i cant say this is portable enough to be called portable laptop 😄 i did not comment on other parts since this are the things that concerns me the most right now.

I agree with the review, especially with the shadow play button, quite annoying, but i find the keyboard perfectly readable on clear days/ in a lit room.

Samsung EVO

Great review, dapogz! I just got my G751-CH71 too, and looking forward to add a SSD (mostly, Samsung 850 Evo 500GB).

So, could you please provide more insight on how I can do it? I mean, did you face any issues during the process? Like, OS migration from HDD to SSD, detection of SSD as a boot up drive, etc..

Appreciate your time in helping me with this info, thanks.

Sorry, But the one who install and transfer the os(including the recovery) is my retailer, its like a special offer when you buy SSD to them 😄 they only cloned the hardrive.. i dont know exactly what they use.. but i use "easeus" to clone hardrives..

Remember to create a Backtracker before cloning.. just a backup in any case you accidentally earase the deault installer partition..

I agree on all points. I hope the sound gets fixed soon, because I can generally live with the other issues of the laptop.

I've got 10 days to decide..
