Hi,

My cpu clock keeps staying at boosted level 3.2 ~ 3.3ghz, even when it's idle on High performance or Balance power plan.

The usage is only 15 ~ 20%. Is this normal?

Look at the GHz again from Task Manager, keep your eye on it and unplug the charger from the laptop.. ;d

Kantm, your CPU stays at 3.2 GHz because you have the power plan set to 100% CPU usage for max and min. At 100%, CPU boost kicks in. It is normal because you have set it that way. Check the Windows Power Options out...

If the minimum value is at 100%, then your minimum processor speed will be 100%.

If the maximum value isn't 100%, then you wont get turbo boost.

Set the maximum processor state to 90 or 95% and you will see your CPU stays at 2-2.3 ghz.

If you set the power plan (once power4gear has been uninstalled) at "balanced", the CPU will go on higher clocks only if needed.
I don't see the point of "high performance", anyway. Why would you want the CPU at high speed all the time ? (maybe to test an overclock, but you can do this with benchmarks and stress tests)

On the other hand, the "economy" setting can be useful for the GPU, when yo are on battery, so that it will remain at low clocks : this way, you won't experience spikes followed by drops of FPS : it will remain constant.

Download Intel XTU and check to see if turboboost is disabled?? Enable if not because when disabled it runs at max core speed 24/7. Lemme know how that works out for you.

Nah... Turboboost activates at 100% on power options and de-activates at 99%. If you set it up with minimum CPU at 5% and maximum CPU at 100% It'll only kick in when necessary
