Any time you get a change in video behavior by manipulating the laptop, it indicates a hardware issue that must be repaired. If you connect your laptop to an external monitor or HDTV, you can troubleshoot the issue further. If both laptop display and HDTV display the issue simultaneously, the problem lies in a defective or poorly-seated GPU. If only the laptop display has the issue, you're more likely to have a poor LVDS cable connection, defective LVDS cable, or defective laptop display.

do the lines flicker or change when the display is opened and closed?

I will try to post a video of what is happening and then add a link to youtube.

Ok sorry it took me a while. my laptop has been bugging me show i have been using my other computer. Here is a brief explanation of what is happening and some videos attached. I am having problems when i use my laptop. This problem occurs when i am holding the laptop on my lap while using it. As i am using it i get pink lines going across the screen in the white areas and where it is black i get green lines. As i try to adjust the laptop on my lap the lines will go away but if i move they will reappear. I have not noticed this problem when i am using it on a table but as a laptop i should be able to use it on my lap without any problems like when i received it new. I am attaching 2 links i have uploaded to youtube to illustrate the problem i am having.

Aside from connecting your laptop to an external monitor or HDTV to troubleshoot further, check out his thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/687995-strange-string-events.html. Maybe tightening the GPU down a little could resolve your video issue.

will it void my warranty tightening the screw on my GPU?

Most likely, since it is not a user-serviceable item. You could also cause damage getting there.

It could also be a bad LVDS cable connection. You'll have a better idea once you connect it to an HDTV and see if the video issue also appears there.
