My 1st Gaming laptop

After doing weeks of research for a gaming laptop .... I bought the asus G74SX-XT1 from tigerdirect

Which is currently on sale… THANK GOD!! I was between this model and the other one with the i7-2670QM processor

I`m looking to upgrade to Seagate ST750LX003 Momentus XT 750GB as my primary drive but not to sure about the memory as from reading through the forums I see some guys having issues with some high end memory so I’m not too sure what to do memory wise.. Any suggestions would be thankful

Also i`m looking to do a clean install once I get it….i don’t trust computers that comes with software already install 

Any suggestions on what to install? And don’t install?

665 real=1333 effective

I was never much of an overclocker, but isn't it DRAM frequency x FSB? So his "real" number would be 997Mhz?

PU-Z shows the real clock speed of your memory, not the effective clock speed. DDR means Double Data Rate (two transactions per clock cycle). So 665 MHz actually means 2 x 665 MHz ~ DDR3-1330 MHz [~DDR3-1333 MHz].

cool...

anyway i played the following games for couple hours on it so far and it works without a hitch

Battlefield 3
Call Of Duty MW3
Mass Effect 3 demo
Deus Ex


even had two games open @ the same time and still no issues.. most i would do is install a Hybrid drive\SSD so my windows can boot faster and
games load faster...the built-in webcam is decent did a skype call.

other than that i`m happy with the laptop so far... 🙂

im in love with this machine im here playin mass effect max out...and it keeps kool unlike my friends alien ware whereby it gets warm....KUDOS ASus another fine product..
