A couple months ago, I ordered an ASUS ROG G752VY-DH78K. This was Asus' top of the line laptop as of 2016. During the entire two months I've owned it, it has sat in the same place in my home office on a desk in a well air conditioned room.
Just yesterday afternoon, I noticed that in the bottom right corner of my LCD, the plastic frame that was attached to the LCD has become detached. This issue has occurred on it's own and I suspect that at the time that the laptop was assembled, whatever adhesive Asus used to ensure the plastic frame is attached to the LCD has somehow become deteriorated within a short period of time. The result is a gap between the edge of the plastic frame and the LCD screen itself on the bottom right side of my screen. I've included a few screenshots as proof.
The reason why I'm sharing this with the Asus community is that I'm not quite sure what to do about this issue and how to effectively prove to Asus that this was not something caused by me. Moreover, I genuinely feel like the Asus G752 series is highly disappointing compared to my Asus G750JZ. My impression of the Asus G752VY is that it was more carelessly produced for several reasons:
1. The BIOS sucks. It takes 15 seconds to boot up at best--sometimes ~30 seconds. The BIOS does not support RAID.
2. You're basically stuck with 2x256GB PCIE SSDs instead of one 512GB SSD. My old Asus G750JZ had 2x256GB SSDs but from the user's experience, that was a non-issue because it had a working RAID so you had ~512GB SSD for your primary ("C:\") drive.
3. The plastic frame is detaching itself from the LCD without me even touching the laptop or doing anything to cause this issue. What happened to quality assurance?
When you combine that with the fact that the Asus G752 came out 3 months behind when it was originally going to come out, reflecting on this entire situation, I highly suspect that the laptop was carelessly produced in an effort to meet an overdue deadline. The lesson I learned was jumping on a new release laptop before waiting long enough to read other people's impressions of it was definitely my fault.
And if you disagree with me, ask yourself why there are so few Asus G752VY-DH78K reviews online compared to the amount of reviews for their previous higher end configuration laptops. I remember back when the Asus G750JZ released, there were DOZENS of reviews. I went to all of the reviewer's YouTube channels who produced outstanding and reliable reviews for the G750JZ and was perplexed that they didn't come out with any reviews for the Asus G752VY. After owning one for the past couple months, I believe the reviewers silently turned a blind eye on this particular model to avoid releasing negative material about Asus. After all, how many popular reviewers come out with a video accusing a tech giant of dropping the ball?
