Maintaining Battery Life G750JW

So recently I've been noticing that my battery hasn't been lasting as long as it use to, I realize that charging it wears it down over time, but I was wondering anything I can do to make my battery last longer.

I've already undervolted my processor, and I don't want to lower brightness/close programs.

Any tips? Thanks!

Hopefully it is a use issue rather than an actual deteriorating battery - but if it is a significant loss, you should file a Technical Inquiry with Asus and ask them to replace the battery.

There are lots of tips online for conditioning your battery to get longer life, and simply draining it completely instead of recharging after short uses helps the most. The battery will have reduced time over the life of the battery, especially if you keep draining and recharging 1 battery.

When I used to have a need to lots of battery time, I kept 3 batteries charged at all times, rotating them through the charge/drain cycle to try to extend the life of all of them, and that seemed to work best.

Unfortunately Asus has seen fit to throw us another curve ball and take away the removable battery from the new G751 - WHY?? - so we are all going to be stuck with 1 battery for the life of the laptop. I am curious how well that is going to work out 🙂

How much less time are you getting with your battery?

how long is your battery lasting? assuming balanced power option, medium brightness and not gaming.

I think the real question is, how long have you had the battery for..? ':x

The battery isn't deteriorating, but it is lasting less due to use, i'm not sure how long it is lasting, but it is noticeably less than when I first got my laptop. I've had the battery for almost a year now, and HW Monitor tells me that I have from 10% to 16% wear, it fluctuates time to time.

Torpedo499, the battery wear level indicator isn't all that it is cracked up to be. Basically it is a calculation based on the designed capacity vs the currently charged "max" capacity - which as you have noticed varies. And, it isn't necessarily a permanent loss as you can re-condition the battery to some extent by completely discharging and recharging - it will re-establish the base max capacity - which is again only relative.

As we become familiar with our devices, and as our usage pattern changes over time, it can affect our perceptions as well. These current generation batteries should last for several years before needing replacement - maybe even 4 or 5 years.

I have spent some time establishing battery capacity loss over time, and have determined that all I really lost of consequential value was the time I spent worrying about it and trying to establish how much capacity I lost 🙂

Far more cost effective was to buy another battery and have 2 to cycle through, or 3.

IDK how the G751 will react if it battery fails to hold a charge - far in the future - hopefully it will continue to run under AC power, and it won't fail physically while internal - leaking out into the chassis 🙂
