Hey guys Ii am trying to create a hackintosh. Has anyone done this on a G46vw? I am trying to install iATKOS ML3U which is supposed to work with UEFI and I-5 cpus and Intel HD graphics cards. I Ican not however get it installed. I got to the install screen once and installed it. However I could not boot into it. I guess my Clover bootloader didnt install. So I tried to boot back into the install usb to reinstal but now I cant. Can anybody help. Anyone know a method or a distro that works on this laptop? I have been trying different methods for over a week. Thanks.

Ok I got it to install and it says it installed a UEFI bootloader. So i rebooted and i get nothing. goes straight to BIOS. It doesn't see my hard drive. So I used a bootloader i have installed to a usb and when i try to get it to boot OSX it displays a bunch of code and at te end I get "unknown CPU" then "CPU Panic".

CPU panic in OSX means that there's something wrong with the Kernel.

Install Linux, you won't have as much trouble 😉

Oh I do run Linux :P. I was actually setting up a quadruple boot. I wanna load OSX cuz I figured since I am in tech support I might as weel learn the OS.

Fair point, though it is a violation of the EULA of OS X to do so, if memory serves. I still don't quite understand how they can require that. Saying they won't debug on non-Mac hardware would be fine (their software+their hardware), but saying you aren't allowed to install it on something else is another matter all together.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

We now have 178 people whose systems will not break! Yippee! 🙂

You can give up installing OSX if you can't even make it boot.

After you've booted then you'll have to do some crazy **** and since the CPU will not be at max and the GPU won't even have acceleration.

So all in all it is not worth it.

Except your laptop has a intel HD 4000
Then it might be worth it.

Maybe someone can chime in who has a G46 who has tried this

OSX has been tried on G75VW and VX but since the GPU acceleration doesn't work and a lot of stuff has to be done.
So it's sad.

So to try it. You will have to find a similar spec'ed laptop and find out how they booted it.
Then you can start with the hard part and frustrating part.
