Low Audio on G74SX? Here's the fix

Chastity
Level 10
Open up the THX TruStudio app and set it to "External Speakers". When on "Built-In Speakers", it's filtering the audio improperly, and losing a lot of the audio playback.

Just a FYI, comparing the G74SX to the G73SW, the audio is fuller sounding. Seeing how the audio plate is wider, I suspect they put in larger drivers. 🙂

Feedback welcome!

No, the paid version. The trial one isn't fully functional.

Sorry if I missed it, but is there a way to make the change in THX stick? Each time I reboot it is set back to built in speakers.

Yes, let it update. Click the triangle and follow menus until you find update.

ok, so i have been sitting back in the shadows reading and taking notes, because i have a g74sx dh71 waiting for me in colorado, and i am flying back to the states to grab it at the end of this month. so, if i am to make sense of this entire thread, it all boils down to uninstalling thx, and loading srs. problem solved! right?

No, not quite. Install one or the other. Each of them is an audio enhancement "add-on" program....essentially an equalizer shell that sits over the top of the Realtek Audio driver (which also has its own equalizer functions).

Some people prefer the THX program, and some prefer the SRS program. And I'm sure plenty of users don't use either one, and just rely on the functions included in the Realtek Audio Manager.

I do not see any save button.

Is thwre a triangle someplace on the interface? I don't have THX installed anymore but I sort of remember clicking a triangls, u0dating the program, and after that it saved the external speakers position.

I use SRS Audio Essentials, now. It costs $20 but its worth it.

However, mine are perfectly acceptable for video chatting. THey do not squeak or make harsh sounds. I would say Khyros has a hardware problem with his speakers (i.e. they are vibrating against the laptop housing or there is foreign material in or touching the speaker(s).

Were you able to get it to update? If not, try this one http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/THX/MSI-GT780DX-Notebook-THX-Application-10211.shtml

But it has to update before you can save the settings!

Nope. Plus, all these things claim they're the latest version. I'll try out the SRS thing too.
