Low Audio on G74SX? Here's the fix

Chastity
Level 10
Open up the THX TruStudio app and set it to "External Speakers". When on "Built-In Speakers", it's filtering the audio improperly, and losing a lot of the audio playback.

Just a FYI, comparing the G74SX to the G73SW, the audio is fuller sounding. Seeing how the audio plate is wider, I suspect they put in larger drivers. 🙂

Feedback welcome!

Just got laptop yesterday thanks for the info on THX external speakers and using Pro but still very disappointing sound from a "gaming" rig, hope there is a better fix down the line.

Please do not post this as a FIX this is merely a work around. A fix would be one that allows full spectrum from the natural speakers without running THX studio each time you restart the computer and change the speaker type to external. PLEASE FIX !

cant find no thx studio on my laptop. and i searched. its a g74

My G74SX is using Realtek High Defination Audio, if I go into sounds it shows speakers and I can raise the volume but it doesn't seem to let you change the type of speakers that are installed, this is in win 7 64 bit.

Do you mean switching between the internal speakers and the audio out (in the Windows "Sound" dialogue)? Or are you in Realtek Audio Manager?

I'm thinking those sounds may be there already and SRS is making them more audible.
Read the User's Manual for more info. 😄

No, I tested it pretty much immediately. I usually play with max volume. Had it on, crackling and popping appeared. Very audible even at low volume. Turned it off, it disappeared. Turned it back on, it came back. Uninstalled, went away. Updated the realtek driver and use just that instead and messed with the equalizer to get similar audio quality I had with THX and SRS.

Hmmm...whatever. Whenever I start reading anything about "3D sound," my eyes reflexively start to roll....lol. Thanks for the link.
