Hello,

I've been looking for a gaming laptop, as it would be so cool to game when I travel to Europe or maybe USA.

Also, I've been thinking about MSI gaming laptops; and there are really very good deals on Amazon right now.

Like;

>>>>>> THESE MSI deals are WOW 😮

And, I'm thinking of two cool ASUS versions.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now I need to know whether to go for MSI or ASUS, and which one?
It's not very difficult issue, I just have to choose any laptop and order it.

I'm also, want to discuss opinions and recommendations. And want to see if any of ASUS ROG fans would recommend me to go for MSI laptops 🙂

So, welcome to discussion and ideas.

ASUS ROG G751JY-WH71(WX) > ASUS ROG G752VT-DH72

Bigger battery than G752VT, better GPU, costs less. SSD has better write performance out of the box.

Can't say anything about the MSI, never owned one, but if it's about the same price, always go with GTX 980m insteadof GTX 970m. CPU is not as important for gaming performance.

First thing is to figure out your budget. Go for the highest end GPU you can get. Im not a fan of MSI, they are built cheaply and are bulky. They do have the upside that most everything can be upgraded, including the GPU.
Performance wise they are all pretty much apples for apples. Its not the name on the outside as much as the name on the inside. In the end its Intel, AMD, and Nvidia and which solution of those you choose that will dictate performance.

I procrastinated over my latest purchase for months between ASUS, MSI and Dell Alienware. Comparing machines of similar specs. Dell was disqualified for heat issues. Not isolated, pretty much a 100% thing. If you dont want 110F plus on your keyboard pass these over. I looked at an MSI hands on and just couldn't get past the ugliness and cheap casing. Should say Generic on it instead. My mind was made up when I got an email from Costco with the G752VY DH72 for $2K ($1999.99) with a two year factory warranty and free 1 year accidental damage warranty. I had also been looking at the G751JY WX versions as they are the cheapest out of any of them for what you get. I passed this over for a couple of reason, I already have a better G751JY and mostly I wanted to venture into the next generation. The Skylake processors arent really any overall performance improvement, just a few percent BUT when you look at it in performance per watt they are clearly better. The addition of DDR4 which lifts the 32GB limitation (not that its an issue), boosts speeds even more and again lower power consumption. Then there is NVMe support with blazingly fast M2 SSD speeds. Some will argue that its not fully compatible because Samsung software wont work correctly. I get the same performance without it. The 128GB that comes with them though has been shown to be terminally disappointing in speeds. Get at least the 256 or count on buying one afterwards.

There are better deals than whats on amazon, nearly always.

Asus boots slow because it still has bios emulation. I think almost all other laptop brands do not have bios anymore. But i like bios better as you can access bios in case you have been locked out of windows 8 or 10. You need to access windows settings first before yiu can access uefi/bios. Or maybe i just don't know another way to access it?

I have been trying to figure out the same exact questions. i currently have a g752VL was not happy with it (returning it tomorrow) . So i got in the mail today a g752VT just to see if there was any difference. My issues are ssd related. But i have also been eyeing the GT72.I will be installing a new SAMSUNG 950 PRO M.2 512GB in the VT version to see if it makes a difference. Its just hard to understand how my almost 4 year old envy will boot up faster than this newer VL using my current samsung ssd (sata )

So, you want to return the VL and replace it with VT?
Your SSD issues are with the VL? if so why you want to get the VT if it has the same issue?
You are eyeing the GT72, so what you think of this model?

You mean even the new G752 also has bios feature ?

What brands which don't have bios?

I returned the VL and got the VT .. it had the ssd already installed. But 128gb is not enough for much of anything . I have 840evo 512gb that i was hoping to put in the VL or VT. But it seemed pretty slow. So I got the samsung 950 pro m.2 . Which seems to have help with making the laptop quicker.

After doing alot of reading on the GT72 i am not quite sold on it. I've read it has heat issues. It also does not have pcie m.2 which would make me have to return the new ssd i just bought.
