I think the best option might be to try a live USB boot OS and see how it performs but something that is generally better support would be the Ubunut / Xubuntu kernels. (Debian tends to be a little behind)
For display if you want the nvidia to boot upon install you would need to change that option in the BIOS if it exists, set the preferred display to dGPU.
