Hello Again,
So the last two days I have experienced a really weird occurrence on my G74SX. Yesterday I was browsing facebook and randomly my laptop froze and my screen turned a redish purple color and I couldn't do anything besides hold down my power button. Again this evening the same thing happened while I was playing a simple game of Counter-Strike 1.6 on Steam. It seems like the air blowing out the back of my laptop was quite hot when this happened but I could be wrong. I just had the motherboard replaced by ASUS and now this I am very frustrated...

1) What version video driver are you currently running?

2) What are your GPU and CPU temperatures as reported by HWINFO64 or SpeedFan? Report both idle temperatures (no other applications running) and when the video issue occurs.

i'm running 296.10 and is there a way to avoid downloading all that crap that comes with the download of hWINFO64?

It sounds like you may be experiencing the "pink screen" issue reported for the 296.10 driver. I recommend a clean install of the 285.62 version, or if you want something more recent, the 295.73 version. You are less likely to have problems with 285.62, however.

I don't understand your comments regarding HWINFO64. SpeedFan can also do the job. Use that...

I read that also so I just uninstalled and installed the 285.62 drivers hopefully that will do the trick my temps seem pretty decent tho i'm getting about 45C in my CPU and about 40 in my GPU

Your idle temps look good. The key is the temperatures when the video issue occurs, which hopefully will not happen again.
