Just bought my first ROG laptop. A few questions.

So Im am enjoying my new lappy. Very nice, and the cooling capabilities of this laptop are amazing. I have all my GPU clocks set to max and it still never breaks 70c.

I am bored with gaming desktops so decided to sell mine and grab a gaming laptop to play with. My questions are as follows.

Can the GPU be upgraded to a 780m?

Is there a way to overclock CPU on these yet?

My model is the G750jw it has the 765M GPU.

Exchange it for a store credit and wait for the 780m to come out.(if thats an option.)

Cant do that. I got it for 1069 the price difference would be the same as if where to just buy the part and put it in here. I was asking if that can be done. Not about looking for exchanging the laptop.

If you manage to find an ASUS GTX780M, then possibly, otherwise, the answer is almost certainly no. ASUS uses a custom MXM form-factor, which prevents end-users from easily upgrading their graphics cards.

I just don't wanna have to keep cycling through laptops. Also I misspoke I doubt it would be the same money wise. the 780M lappy is what around 2k? I only paid 1k exactly so it would be cheaper to buy the part. Im sure once they are out for awhile, I could find a g750 780M on ebay for less than 500. The current 765M seems to be more than competent for now.

Anyways what about overclocking any room there? Other than set FSB as I find that program ridiculous.

I highly doubt that you or anyone else for that matter, will be able to upgrade video card in JW/JX models. JH chassis are way bigger. I guess, to handle all the heat from 780.

um chassis looks the same to me. it is just another 750 model with higher specs. there is not a ton of extra heat, very minimal. I have a hefty overclock on my 765 and it still never breaks 70c, so I think the chassis is fine. Obviously I would need the GPU and the heat sink. As long as the chassis is the same mostly inside, it would work. I have done this for my customers multiple times on their MSI and Dell Gaming laptops. From the photos though it looks the same. I guess I will just have to wait and see.
