just a quick question, is the G501 windows 10 ready? are we gonna retain the ASUS bloatware if we upgrade to windows 10? and to the ones who own it. do you get updates for the GPU gtx960m?

so... I upgraded to windows 10 in the past few days, and frankly what happened was a total failure for 😞
it slows down "A LOT" or worse hangs 😞
so I though a reset would probably fix my problems and guess what? it got worse!!

1. Keyboard backlit doesn't work or other function keys (Downloaded ATK package for windows 10 and it worked again thankfully)
2 touchpad doesn't work properly (again download the touchpad driver for windows 10, works flawlessly)

all of the Asus bloatware are missing and I use 3 of them which is the maxxaudio and the one where we can change color settings for the monitor
(forgot what its called fn + c button) and I often use both of them since I often watch movies and the ROG mouse settings, now I cant change
my mouse keys 😞

already installed the ATK package (praying that it would be there) but no avail

any suggestions guys?

that is strange, all the bloatware from asus is still usable on my side, did you check the bloatware on 8.1 support list? i dunno if the maxx audio is there but i think the Splendid is there.

did u aleardy reinstall the intel and nvidia? in some cases the driver intel is very buggy .

I jumped to windows 10... my experiences:

1. ASUS bloatware still usable. They're under ASUS folder in start menu
2. Very slow start up
3. Avast firewall doesn't work. I'm trying solution for now.
4. My Office 2013 activator doesn't work (will have to buy a legit copy)

So far... that's all I've encountered. Not using Cortana due to regional support.

An update:

1. Slow start-up caused by Avast. Downloaded latest installer and used Avast cleaner to uninstall previous. Running much better now.
2. Firewall of Avast now works.
3. Office now Activated. LOL. Still buying the legit though.

So far so good. Will check gaming performance after work.

Can anyone confirm that a clean install can solve all issues for the G501?

Can you guys post the default page file settings on a Win8.1 G501? I believe it's not set to "System Managed"

I updated all drivers on the list but to no avail... still slow as hell... if this keeps up then I might have to revert to 8.1

is it the ntoskrnl.exe that uses ram and cpu usage?
any program not compatible with windows 10 will have memory leak or abnormal cpu usage.

clean install should fix it , but save it as a last resort.

Edit : some reddit user confrimed that cumulative update fix the memory leak http://redd.it/3h17m7
